Epic 3 Months....literally

3 months ago I started our training for the new Epic online medical record program.

This has been a wild ride to say the least, BUT I have loved pretty much every moment of it. I say pretty much because having to work over nights was god awful, and not having a semi set schedule was killer One day working from 6am to 4pm and then next from 2pm till 12am.....ugh talk about always being tired.

Now we are at the GO-LIVE and I feel fairly useless. There are so many super users and outside contract help that for most of my 8 hours that I am there I just wander around to different floors to see if anyone needs help, which most of the time they don't need any. There are 2 reasons for this .....one being that there are so many people there that know the system and 2, we did a KICK ASS job at training our staff. I like to think that all the hard work we put in really did make a difference.

I am hoping to be able to move forward in traveling around the U.S. doing teaching and training for the Epic medical record program. I really believe that this is a wonderful program to help improve patient safety. Yes this is a stressful time for clinical staff but I know what it is like to be on the other end, so I try to make their training as stress free as possible.

Here is to the next part of life.....as of 2/24 I am jobless lol
