Today I flew into Las Vegas and grabbed my rental car from Hertz, I love renting from them because there is always a car ready for me, no waiting in lines or anything. Just grab the car drive to the checkout and viola!
I started my trip by heading towards the Grand Canyon, and made a stop in Kingsman Arizona. There is a locomotive park where an old locomotives sits and you can go in and check it out. I took some pictures for a friends baby room and it was cool to see it up close. Most of the time we see these from so far away. There isn't much to do around here other than that, so back on the road I went.
The views on the highway are stunning. You think about clays and whites and bright reds and oranges and everything towers so incredibly far into the sky. It is just absolutely beautiful. There tons of sun flowers and black eyed susans on the side of the road and even a box car train that I was driving along with. I am sure that people who live out here don't appreciate their scenery like we do because they see it every day.
I got to the Grand Canyon really late tonight due to travel times and some delays at the airport so I was unable to hike down into the canyon to camp for the night. Next time!!! So I had to scramble to find a hotel for the night since the campgrounds were full, and it is a good thing I did because a big thunderstorm rolled in. So off to bed so I can start day early tomorrow.
