New Years Eve

Today we left our lovely host's house to head into the city to stay for the remainder of the week for the NYE festivities. First we checked in at the hotel to drop off all of our luggage, then we brought our car back to the airport because parking is disgusting here in Sydney. Mr. Bond offered to meet us at the airport to then bring us to Manly beach again for the day. We soaked up some sun on the beach for a few hours. If you like to surf or boogie board this beach is great!!!! For swimming, not so much....the waves are awesome but holy crap the rip tide is brutal. I love bobbing around in the waves but they were so big and crashed on me so many times I got out feeling like a had a major workout! lol

After our day at the beach it was time to get ready for our NYE celebration. We purchased tickets ahead of time for a boat in the harbor. It was fairly expensive, but well worth it. It was a BYOB and food kind of boat which was fine by me....but that was it. No music, no real mingling with people and no one our age. Needless to say we sgot some prime viewing space on the bottom deck for the fireworks near the bridge. I am not sure if I would reccommend this company for a NYE boat unless you are looking for something non execiting lol. The way they have you get on the boat was very dangerous, because it was like a huge herd of cattle trying to all move at once on the docks with no railings. There were no lines or anything to line up in, just mass chaos. You would think since they do this every year they would have a better process. (I think my co-worker Duncan's thought processing is rubbing off on me!!!) So that is that.....kick ass fireworks from the harbor. Everyone said that it was going to be wall to wall people, but we didn't see that anywhere, maybe because we were on the boat that was boarding tucked into another harbor...who knows but it was a great experience.
