Blue Mountains

We got up fairly early today to take a 2-hour drive west of Sydney out to the Blue Mountains area. We decided that we were going to go and check out some hiking areas and some waterfalls. The first placed that we stopped was Wentworth Falls, this had a bunch of different trails which allows you to see the beautiful Blue Mountains. This place is amazing! The mountains are all green and any of them that have cliff sides are beautiful colors of tan, browns, tan clay, hints of white and red. I am not sure if any of the words that I use will be able to describe the magnificent beauty of the place. Nature sure is an absolutely wonderful thing. We started walking/hiking together for a good hour or so, and then I took a 2 min side stop to take a picture and lost Mary. I thought I would run into her along the main path down to the bottom of the waterfalls but we never crossed paths.
I walked down TONS of stairs, I swear at the end of this vacation I am going to have buns of steel with all of the walking and stairs I am doing lol. This walk/hike is stunning and tiring! You cross over multiple little streams along the walk down and sometimes you have to go under fallen trees or over slippery rocks so making sure you have good footwear on is extremely important. After hiking for 20 min or so I finally reached the bottom of the waterfall. Talk about beauty! I feel like I am a broken record in trying to describe what I am seeing. Amazing, beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, etc….but that is what it is! I may have to check out a thesaurus to learn some new words lol. After I took a bunch of pictures and just hung out to enjoy the view I hiked my butt all the way to the top to try and find Mary. I found her sitting at the car. Of course we were both frustrated with one another so we talked about how we can’t lose one another especially in a park like this. I told her about the woman I saw who fell and broke her arm. At least she had her family with her, if anything happened to one of us, good luck to anyone who helped out to try and find the other one of us. We also have to be more in clear in communicating when we are deviating from a path to check things out, I thought she had heard me but she didn’t.
We got back on the road to head to the Scenic World attraction. This is a place where you can do 4 different things within 1 paid ticket. You have unlimited rides on the sky rail, cable car, the steepest rail car and also walk through their rainforest area to check out old trees, animals and other things. This place was really nice and totally worth the price, remember if you go during a vacation time to book ahead of time. I would also book these things ahead of time if you are on a schedule so that you don’t have to wait in lines. They also have an extensive gift shop and 2 places to grab food. The views are unbelievable from each of the rides, they all have their own views. We actually got to see the sun set from the sky rail so that was nice. They are usually only open till about 4:30/5 but due to the vacation time frame they were open till 8:30, talk about luck being on our side. We had a 2 hour drive back to where we were staying, so we decided to grab some fast food on the way home. It wasn’t our first choice for sure but we found a McDonalds. I HATE McDonalds back home, but here…..holy crap!!! Their burgers are awesome!!! Mary and I both said the same thing, this food was good for fast food, way better than the crap we have at home. So worse case if we need to, we can stop there knowing it isn’t too bad lol.
We got back to our hosts house Mr. Bond (no I am still not making that up) and we hung out for a little with him before we all retired to bed.
Tomorrow is another long day, so till then. XO
