Our first day in Sydney, we had a bit of a late start so we decided to hit up the local aquarium. It was called Sea Life and we weren’t too sure how it was going to be. All of the kids in the Sydney area are on break from Christmas and Boxing day so the line was out of control long. Even though we had bought our tickets online we still had to wait in a line to get to the counter and have them print them out. Kind of odd if you ask me, that we couldn’t show them the email and have them let us in that way. Oh well, after about 45min to an hour we finally got in. It was still a disaster, so many people all over the place it was very difficult to see some of the exhibits that the place had to offer. So many people were unfortunately rude it was driving me nuts! Pushing you out of the way to see something so they can get a picture or stepping on your heels….gah!
Anyhoo, about 10-15 min into the aquarium it got a bit thinned out which was better. This place was actually larger than it looks on the outside which I still can’t figure out. They had these really cool tunnels that you walked through and all sorts of sea animals would swim next to and above/over you. It was really cool, I have never experienced anything like that at an aquarium before. I will post some pictures as soon as I can for that, right now I am typing in word since I have no access to internet. They had all sorts of great sea life at this place, I would recommend coming here for sure, BUT make sure it is not doing a school vacation time.
After a few hours in the aquarium, we decided to walk around the wharf area to check it out. This is the Darling Wharf area, and there are a ton of places to eat and shop all along it. One of the things I have noticed about the city is the amount of places that they have for water bottle fill up stations for people, it is great. It means less plastic bottles being sold and not recycled and thrown away and lord only knows where it ends up. They are really big into trying to help save the environment down here, maybe because people say there is a big hole in their ozone down here??? Who knows if that is really true or not. We wandered past some street entertainers and decided to watch the for a bit, which ended up being the end and they had one of their guys just over about 6 or 7 volunteers, check out the pic!

After this we walked around some more and come across a giant Santa that was made our of milk crates. I tell ya, this warm weather throws me for a loop!!!! I have a hard time remembering that it is Christmas time and coming up on NYE.
To round out our day we decided to try and find a place to get our nails done. I didn’t really have to but figured since Mary was going to do them I might as well since I was there. Holy crap is it hard to find a nail place in Sydney!!!! We walked around this city for about an hour and most of them were closed or about to close. Luckily we found a place that could take us in before they closed.
Next was a late night dinner yet again. I don’t mind eating late but sometimes it isn’t the best thing to be doing on a regular basis. We stopped at a local Japanese restaurant and I ordered something I have never had before. I am on this kick of trying new food, mainly because of an old coworker who said eat things that look at you. Well ok so I have had squid before, MANY of times so this wasn’t that exciting but the Udon soup was. It was really good, I enjoyed the noodles, seaweed, tofu and whatever else was in this bowl of yumminess! Back to Mr. Bond’s house for another late night and hopefully getting up early in the morning for more adventures.
XO
