Last day in Melbourne

So today is our last day in Melbourne. I really love this city, so much so that I could see myself living here. (Don’t worry mom, I am not moving anywhere, at least not now). The people here are so nice, welcoming, the city is flat and the outskirts a pleasant. One of the biggest things I have noticed about restaurants in Australia (well on so only in one city so far lol) is that their service is odd. You get to a restaurant and find a place to sit, grab a menu figure out what you want to eat then go to the bar and order it. they give you a number to put on your table and they will deliver it to you.....definiately different than back home for sure. BUT what is really great about this style is that the food comes out SO fast!!! It would be interesting to trial this kind of service back home but I don't think people would be all that keen about it.

For our last day we had purchased Melbourne Star tickets via Groupon Australia before we left and hadn’t had the chance to go since we had been so busy. The Melbourne Star is like the London Eye, which is a gigantic Ferris wheel that instead of sitting in a seat, it is a gigantic pod with large windows all around other than the floor. The view is absolutely amazing! Granted it isn’t as nice as the London Eye but it worked. We could see the whole city that we had spent a week in. I really wanted to go at night to see it all light up, but unfortunately it didn’t work out that way. We did some more wandering around the city before having to head to the airport to drop off the car and headed on our way to Sydney.

We took our uneventful flight which was just about an hour and got our rental car. Due to arriving after 5pm and by the time we got our car it was getting a bit late. We were staying with my dad’s old work college (Mr. Bond) so I wanted to be considerate of the time. We hadn’t eaten since lunch so decided to find some food closer to the house we were staying in. We apparently loved Thai food so much that we found a little hole in the wall Thai place to grab some dinner at. Today, wasn’t as eventful as some of the others for sure, but I guess we need some low key days here and there.

Till tomorrow xo
