We unfortunately had a late start to our day, but we decided to head out to the Healesville Sanctuary which is about an hour from Melbourne. We don’t have GPS and didn’t have a map so we got a wee lost hahaha. We made it there around 12:30 and it was an amazing place. We got to see so many different animals, and they are all native to Australia. There was also a flight show which showcased different species of birds from Falcons to Cockatoos.
We were in the sanctuary all day long, totally intrigued by all of the animals and how close you could get to them. They have Wallabys which are like mini Kangaroos where you can actually get up close and pet them. Unfortunately, there were a bunch of kids running around so we didn’t get to touch them, since they seemed a bit skittish. There were a few sections of the sanctuary where you could go into these kind of enclosures where the animals roam free and can come so close to you. Also, the birds come so close to you can will land on you if you have their food they eat.
It was a great day to be at the zoo, not too hot and not too cool. I know that most of my pictures taken are animals that are not in their REAL wildlife habitat but this I the best I can do for now.
